The Crocker Art Museum seeks an experienced and collaborative executive leader to serve as its next Mort and Marcy Friedman Director & CEO (Director). Today, the Crocker is one of the largest art museums in North America and a vibrant center of culture for California’s diverse Capital Region. The Museum offers an array of special exhibitions, events, and programs to augment its stellar collections of Californian, European, Asian, African, and Oceanic artworks, works on paper, and international ceramics. In a city of 500,000+ residents within a metro region of 2.2M, the Crocker draws an audience of nearly 190,000 annual visitors to its nearly 89,000 square feet of exhibition space.
Reporting to the board of co-trustees, the Director will continue to advance the Crocker’s impact and legacy in Sacramento and increase its regional and national profile. The Director will lead the vision and serve as the public face of the Crocker, nurturing and expanding relationships with the City of Sacramento, Crocker Art Museum Association, community partners, donors, artists, stakeholders, and the field, while leading a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers within the Museum. TITLE: Visitor Services Representative
DEPARTMENT: Visitor Services

HIRING RANGE: $20.00 per hour. Up to 20 hours/week or 999 hours a year
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Crocker Art Museum is dedicated to promoting an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art. We measure our success by our ability to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the communities we serve. This position helps fulfill this by promoting engaging visitor experience while enforcing Museum procedures and ensuring the visitor’s first and last impressions of their experience at the Museum is a positive one. Visitor Services Representatives provide excellent customer service and have a good working knowledge of the Crocker exhibitions, programs, and facilities. They assist with visitor greetings and orientation and think creatively when faced with day-to-day scenarios. Visitor Service Representatives are cross trained in customer service and sales, clerical tasks, museum exhibitions, and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Always maintain a professional and courteous manner.
Act as an information resource for visitors and members and have a complete understanding of Museum activities.
Use ticketing system to process the sales of admission tickets and program registration.
Sell memberships based on an understanding of and ability to communicate the benefits of different membership levels.
Greet Museum visitors and answer general questions about Sacramento and the region.
Receive visitor complaints and help provide solutions for issues that may arise.
Understand and administer Museum policies regarding photography, items allowed in the galleries, coat check, etc.
Replenish materials for interactive gallery space, Tot Land, and collateral racks.
Follow procedures for opening/closing ticketing stations.
Maintain a clean, organized, professional workspace.
Communicate issues affecting customer experience to Manager of Visitor Services.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

This position helps fulfill this by overseeing daily café operations as well as managing bar service at events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Daily Café Operations
Manage food and beverage operations for the Museum café in conjunction with the Executive Chef, including open and closing procedures, food preparation, staffing, sales, service, and bussing.
Ensure daily consistency in menu execution, presentation, and quality.
Maintain high standards of food and beverage service, and address and resolve guest concerns or service challenges promptly and professionally.
Establish and execute inventory control procedures, including tracking product inventory quantities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize usage and minimize waste.
Manage the ordering and delivery of all purchases including food, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, supplies, sanitation, equipment, etc.
In conjunction with the Executive Chef, establish café menu and pricing, and ensure it is entered correctly into the café point-of-sale system.
Administration & Staff Management
Ensure compliance with all food safety, alcohol service, and workplace safety regulations and maintain awareness of regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
Conduct regular café inspections to maintain cleanliness, organization, and adherence to facility standards.
Recruit, train, schedule, and lead part-time Café Associates to ensure adequate coverage and excellent service delivery.
Determine daily and weekly staffing requirements and schedules, assign work hours, schedule vacations, and coordinate days off.
Track and reconcile gratuities received and paid out on bi-weekly timecards.
Assist in the preparation of the annual café budget and manage department expenses accordingly.
Review, analyze, and reconcile regular sales reports to ensure accuracy of items sold and payment collected.
Analyze financial performance of the café and bar service program and identify opportunities for revenue generation and cost savings.
Bar Service
Oversee setup, staffing, execution, and breakdown processes of bars and/or beverage service during internal Museum events or Private Event rentals when bar service is booked.
Maintain a roster of certified servers and ensure bar service aligns with ABC regulations and laws.
Collaborate with event coordinators and clients to align bar service offerings with event themes, budgets, and guest expectations.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
3+ years of experience in food and beverage operations management, with a focus on café restaurants
Current California Food Manager certification and Responsible Beverage Service training certification
Degree or certification in hospitality management or a related field preferred
Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory control
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments
Strong knowledge of food and beverage trends and service styles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset
Ability to monitor and handle guest complaints while ensuring guest satisfaction

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

This position helps fulfill this by engaging audiences by creating dynamic and educational exhibition installations. Working as part of a team of art preparators/installers, this position is primarily responsible for facilitating the installation of exhibitions in the Museum per the Museum exhibition program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Collaborate in a team environment to produce superior quality exhibitions
Installing and deinstalling exhibitions and installations according to the plans of the Exhibition Designer, Registrar, or designated Curatorial staff
Preparing and packing/unpacking objects for travel and assisting with incoming and outgoing shipments
Ability to safely use hand and power tools and other necessary equipment.
Paint galleries and exhibition furniture
Prepare signs and labels
Fabricate hanging and mounting systems for works of art
Ability to perform physical work associated with preparation of exhibits.
Perform maintenance duties to keep exhibits and displays clean and clearly labeled.
Prepare artwork and historical artifacts for shipping; receive and unpack shipments of art objects and other exhibition related materials
Completing finish work for exhibitions or installations including lighting, leveling, cleaning, labeling, and signage.
Ability to multi-task and assume a variety of projects simultaneously.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Daily Café Operations
Provide excellent customer service, including greeting all members and guests to the café and addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally
Take customers’ café orders, ensuring dietary restrictions or preferences are accommodated, and process payments using the café point-of-sale system
Prepare and serve food and beverages at café tables or at the café counter
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including the dining area, counters, and kitchen, and restock display cases, refrigerators, and other supplies as needed
Adhere to health and safety regulations to ensure the well-being of customers and staff
Kitchen/Back-of-House Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation, including chopping, portioning, assembling dishes, and ensuring proper food handling and storage practices
Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management regarding restocking needs
Dispose of waste, compost, and recyclables properly and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Sanitation Standard Responsibilities
Operate dishwashing equipment and ensure all dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored
Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, floors and dishwashing stations regularly
Ensure proper disposal of food waste and maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas
Participate in weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning schedule.
Equipment Use in the Kitchen
Ensure proper operation and safe handling of all kitchen equipment
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, and prep stations, following proper safety and sanitation protocols
